Best Neck Pillow for Sleeping USA – Derila Memory Foam Cervical Pillow for Side Sleepers
Neck pain is now the third-most-common pain complaint in the United States, affecting roughly 15% of American adults at any given time. For millions of Americans, a poorly designed pillow is the hidden culprit behind morning stiffness and fragmented sleep.
That’s precisely why the market for cervical pillows is booming. Consumers are increasingly recognizing that the right pillow can transform sleep quality and alleviate chronic pain.
This guide cuts through the marketing noise to help you find the Best Neck Pillow for Sleeping USA. We’ll put the Derila Memory Foam Cervical Pillow under the microscope, compare it against top competitors, and give you everything you need to make an informed purchase.

Why Your Standard Pillow Is Failing You
Traditional pillows typically force your head into an unnatural angle. Side sleepers especially need enough loft to fill the gap between the ear and the shoulder, while back sleepers require a lower profile to maintain the natural C-curve of the cervical spine. When these needs aren’t met, your neck muscles work overtime to compensate, leading to painful tension and poor sleep architecture.
A properly designed cervical Best Neck Pillow for Sleeping USA supports the natural curvature of your spine, reduces pressure points, encourages deeper restorative sleep, and can significantly reduce snoring by keeping airways open.

Features & Benefits
Ergonomic Butterfly Contour: The Best Neck Pillow for Sleeping USA butterfly shape is specifically designed to cradle the neck while supporting the head. Unlike standard pillows that allow the head to sink uncontrollably, the contour locks in proper spinal alignment. Side sleepers particularly benefit from the elevated sides that fill the gap between the shoulder and ear.
Responsive Memory Foam: The foam strikes a careful balance—supportive enough to maintain alignment but not so firm that it feels rigid. The foam adjusts to your unique body shape, offering consistent support throughout the entire night. Independent testing has described the Derila’s density as “an excellent balance” that provides a responsive cradle without feeling overly hard.
Breathable Temperature Management: Heat retention is a common complaint with memory foam pillows, but the Derila cover actively helps control temperature. Users report staying “cool and sweat-free” throughout the night—a critical factor for hot sleepers.
Washable Removable Cover: The outer cover is removable and machine washable—a significant hygiene advantage that extends the life of the Best Neck Pillow for Sleeping USA.
Real User Experiences
Side Sleeper Relief: “The pillow hugged my neck and lifted my head. My chin did not drop when I lay on my side. The pillow eased my morning ache. It fits both side and back sleepers. The cover feels soft and breathable. I saw steady neck relief in days.”
Adjustment Period Required: Some users note the Best Neck Pillow for Sleeping USA feels “a little low but still offers good neck support”. The initial adjustment period is common with cervical pillows as your neck muscles adapt to proper alignment.
Size Considerations: The regular size has drawn criticism for being too small—”the size and shape of an LP record,” in one user’s words. However, the King Size variant addresses this complaint, with users noting “the King Size is a normal Best Neck Pillow for Sleeping USA size”.
Important Red Flags
Before purchasing, you should be aware of Derila’s troubling business practices. Australian consumer advocacy group CHOICE investigated the brand and uncovered “coercive web marketing techniques designed to trick online customers,” including countdown timers that reset to zero and automatic cart additions. One customer ordered a single Best Neck Pillow for Sleeping USA but received six and was charged an extra $165.

The Ultimate Buying Guide: How to Choose the Best Neck Pillow for Sleeping USA
Sleeping Position Is Everything
Your sleep position dictates your Best Neck Pillow for Sleeping USA required loft and firmness:
Side Sleepers: Need a higher loft (4–6 inches) to fill the gap between the ear and the shoulder. A contoured pillow that provides neck support while leaving room for the shoulder is ideal. Approximately 60% of adults sleep on their side.
Back Sleepers: Require a medium loft (3–5 inches) that supports the natural C-curve of the cervical spine without pushing the head too far forward.
Stomach Sleepers: Need the lowest loft (2–3 inches)—or may be better served by sleeping without a Best Neck Pillow for Sleeping USA entirely—to prevent excessive neck rotation.
Combination Sleepers: Should prioritize adjustable Best Neck Pillow for Sleeping USA like the Coop Original or Eli & Elm that allow loft customization to accommodate position changes throughout the night.
Material Matters
Memory Foam: Offers excellent contouring and pressure relief. Solid memory foam provides consistent support but can retain heat. Shredded memory foam allows adjustability but may shift during the night.
Latex: Naturally cooling, responsive, and durable. Hypoallergenic and resistant to dust mites but typically more expensive.
Down/Feather: Soft and moldable but offers minimal support and may trigger allergies.
Firmness Levels
Soft: Best for stomach sleepers and lightweight individuals.
Medium: Ideal for back sleepers and combination sleepers.
Firm: Essential for side sleepers and heavier individuals who need substantial support.
Certifications to Look For
CertiPUR-US: Certifies that foam is free from harmful chemicals and meets emissions standards.
GREENGUARD Gold: Indicates low chemical emissions for improved indoor air quality.
Safety Warning
If a cervical Best Neck Pillow for Sleeping USA price seems too good to be true—especially with discounts exceeding 50%—approach with caution. Always verify the seller’s reputation, check for a legitimate return policy, and be wary of aggressive countdown timers or “limited stock” notifications designed to pressure you into a quick decision.
Frequently Asked Questions:
1. How long does it take to get used to a cervical pillow?
Most users require 3–7 nights for their neck muscles to adjust to proper alignment. The first night may feel unusual as your muscles release tension they’ve held for years. The Derila Best Neck Pillow for Sleeping USA Ergo has been reported to show “steady neck relief in days”.
2. Is the Derila pillow good for side sleepers?
Yes. The butterfly contour provides adequate loft and support for side sleepers. A 30-night comparison test found the Derila Ergo “more accommodating when shifting positions” compared to the original model.
3. Can cervical pillows help with snoring?
Yes. By supporting proper neck alignment, Best Neck Pillow for Sleeping USA can help keep airways open, reducing snoring for many users. Multiple customer reviews report positive results for snoring relief.
4. How do I clean my memory foam pillow?
The memory foam itself should never be submerged in water. Remove the outer cover and machine wash on a gentle cycle with cold water. Air dry completely before reusing. Spot-clean the foam core with a damp cloth if needed.
5. Why does my Derila pillow look smaller than advertised?
Derila ships its pillows compressed in vacuum-sealed packaging for “environmental purposes” and compact shipping. Allow 24–48 hours for the Best Neck Pillow for Sleeping USA to fully expand to its intended size.
Final Verdict

Its butterfly contour effectively cradles the neck for side and back sleepers, the memory foam strikes an admirable balance of comfort and support, and the breathable cover addresses the heat retention issues common to memory foam.

But if adjustability is essential to you, the Coop Home Goods Original or Eli & Elm are better investments. If maximum proven customer satisfaction matters most, the Osteo Cervical Pillow’s 11,000+ reviews and award-winning design make a compelling case.
The Best Neck Pillow for Sleeping USA is the one that keeps your spine aligned and disappears into comfort—leaving you to wake rested, refreshed, and pain-free.

Love this pillow
Over the years I have tried many pillows and had many disappointments. To be honest when I unpacked this pillow I didn’t expect much, but was I pleasantly surprised. As soon as my head touched this pillow I knew I had the perfect fit for me. Firmness was perfect, I got the standard size, and even though it looked small, it is just right for me. I am waking up without a stiff and painful neck, my shoulders are more comfortable, and my upper back more relaxed. I am in my mid 70s and aches and pains are sometimes a challenge when trying to get a comfortable good night’s sleep. This pillow has help to make this challenge much easier. I will definitely be getting another one when this one needs to be replaced.

Good quality, smaller than appears.
The pillow is very comfortable and supports my neck in a way that prevents my mild sleep apnea. It is perfect for someone who sleeps on their back, however, I am a side sleeper and my head can move off the pillow in my sleep when I move from side to side.I ordered the standard size pillow because I am a small adult. The standard size is not a standard pillow size, it is much smaller. If I were to order again I would order the larger pillow.

Too flat
This pillow is too firm and too small. You still need to put some sort of a pillow under this pillow, otherwise it’s way too flat by itself.

Would not recommend
This pillow will be a hit or a miss for mostly everyone. I have had it for almost two months now and for me it is a miss. I got it to help relieve neck strain while sleeping. The learning curve to get used to the pillow is rough, didn’t become somewhat comfortable to sleep with until about 2 weeks into using it. Just like practicing to sit with your back straight, the posture can be uncomfortable at times and actually make it difficult to fall asleep. This purchase has sadly become useless for me. The two pillows do not get used by both me and my partner. I would not recommend this product and it has convinced me to not seek out odd shaped pillows again, especially at the premium they cost.

Life changing!
I’m shocked to see how many bad reviews about this pillow. This is hands down the best pillow I’ve ever had. I have been having horrible neck pain and terrible sleep for years; someone recommended this to me, at first I thought “$40 is kind of pricey for a pillow” but Ill try it anyway, and I’m so glad I did. It’s so comfortable, it’s very sturdy and supports my neck, and my neck doesn’t hurt anymore! I will never use another pillow again. I have been getting the best sleep since switching.

Works but not 100%
This works! It a little small but I guess it doesn’t have to be too big since the purpose is to keep your partners head in a little crook that keeps his airway open. It doesn’t 100% stop the snoring but it definitely makes it less frequent and loud, more like heavy breathing with this pillow. My partner will find ways to roll of it but since it allows him to sleep on his back and only lightly snore so I can sleep it’s a win. His doctor says these things don’t usually work but it has definitely helped us.

Not so great
It’s a decent pillow but doesn’t stand up to other reviews and it’s not a 40$ investment I would have made.

Angle and neck support correct
They are a bit hard. Hoping they soften up. The angle is correct and keeps head positioned correctly as a back sleeper. It does not allow for even small movement. I keep using. Will update after more use.
